The Humanity Photo Awards (HPA)
Since 1998, the China Folklore Photographic Association (CFPA) has launched a call to photographers all over the world to document folklore phenomenon extensively and in depth. To this end, CFPA founded the Humanity Photo Awards (HPA), a biennial international photographic contest. This event is blessed with UNESCO’s support and is granted with its logo since the 2nd HPA in 2000.
For the past 23 years, photographers from 165 countries have registered and participated in HPA, who successfully have contributed the images about rich cultural phenomenon of 181 countries. This is a massive photo collection on multi-culture.

Data of Entries and Selections in Previous HPA
From HPA 1998 to 2017, there were cumulatively 22,000 photographers from 165 countries and regions around the world, who have submitted 41,000 photo sets which equal to 441,000 photos in total. As an international awareness of HPA throughout the years, the initial ratio of international contestants has risen from 12% up to 47%, and the ratio of awards winning even has risen from 23% to 66%.
There were 48 UNESCO heritage officials, cultural scholars, museum experts, the world famous photographers and photo editors from 26 countries and regions, who have joined the HPA international jury as the judges of final evaluation stage.
